Hello ladies! Usually, I craft an extensive hair care guide for extensions. Today, I'm simplifying it to share quick tips! Hope you find them helpful!

7 Tips to Remember for your Weft Hair Care Guide:

1. Detangle Gently: Start by gently detangling your extensions with a wide-tooth comb or a specialized extension brush. Work from the ends up to the roots to avoid damage. You can use a wide tooth comb when brushing the conditioner through.

2. Wash with Care: Use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to cleanse the extensions. We recommend a Kevin Murphy Brand! Avoid rubbing or twisting them excessively. Washing in between each row. You can scratch in between if itchy avoiding the beads and weft. Shampoo twice to 3 times to ensure the hair is clean. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

3. Condition Deeply: Apply a nourishing conditioner we recommend a Kevin Murphy brand! Use from mid-length to ends, avoiding the roots. Comb through with wide tooth comb. Leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing thoroughly. For added moisture, consider using a leave-in conditioner or hair mask once a week. We recommend washing only once a week.

4. Drying: You must blow dry the roots to prevent mold building up in the hair. If you must use heat styling tools, apply a heat protectant spray first to minimize damage. You can let the rest air dry.

5. Style Safely: When styling with heat tools, use a low to medium heat setting to prevent overheating and potential damage to the hair. Avoid using excessive tension or pulling when styling or tying up the extensions. This can result in the weft falling out.

6. Brush Regularly: Gently brush the extensions daily (morning and night) to prevent tangling and maintain smoothness. Using a wet brush, start from the ends and gradually work your way up to the roots, holding the hair in place as you brush to avoid pulling on the wefts.

7. Overnight: Either braid your hair to sleep or use a silk cap. You should also be using a silk pillowcase to prevent tangling of the hair.

Things to Avoid

1. Overwashing: Washing too frequently can strip the hair of its natural oils and lead to dryness.

2. Excessive Heat: Limit the use of heat styling tools to prevent damage and preserve the longevity of the extensions.

3. Harsh Products: Avoid products containing sulfates, alcohol, and other harsh chemicals that can strip the hair and cause it to become dry and brittle.

4. Sleeping with Wet Hair: Allow the extensions to dry completely before going to bed to prevent tangling and potential damage.

Things to Note:

1. Non-Mineral Sunscreen: Some non-mineral sunscreens contain ingredients like avobenzone, octocrylene, and oxybenzone, which can interact with the hair's proteins and pigments, especially if they are blonde. This interaction may lead to a yellow or orange tint on the extensions when exposed to sunlight. To prevent discoloration, opt for mineral-based sunscreens that contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, which are less likely to cause this reaction.

2. Chlorine Exposure: Chlorine in swimming pools can also affect blonde hair extensions, potentially causing them to take on a greenish hue. This discoloration occurs due to the chemical reaction between chlorine and the proteins in the hair. To minimize the risk, wet the extensions with clean water before swimming to limit chlorine absorption. Additionally, wearing a swim cap or keeping the hair tied up can provide an extra layer of protection. After swimming, rinse the extensions thoroughly with fresh water and follow up with a gentle shampoo to remove any chlorine residue.

Conclusion
